CIKARANG (Yosefardi) – Hankook Tire today inaugurated the operation of its new plant in Cikarang, West Java, to boost production capacity and to strengthen its base for export to South-east Asian, North America, and Middle East.

Vice Chairman and CEO of Hankook Tire Seung Hwa Suh said around 70% of total tire production from Cikarang facility, which costs US$1.1 billion, will be allocated for export.

The new plant is slated to produce six million tires each year for passenger cars, light trucks and ultra high performance vehicles.

The plant employs 1,400 workers and is on track to employ 4,300 by 2018.
