BANYUWANGI (Yosefardi) – Hundreds of police officers from the mobile brigade managed to abort the travel of members of the controversial Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) to Bali Island at the port of Ketapang, Banyuwangi, East Java Saturday (Sept 14).
Traveled in some buses, FPI members planned to dismiss the Miss World 2013 event being held in the resort island.
Earlier in Jakarta, hundreds of FPI members also staged a rally at the busy Hotel Indonesia Circle opposing the contest, including plans to have the final event in Sentul area, West Java.
Participating in the rally was Permadi, a lawmaker from Gerindra Party and known Javanese soothsayer, who suggested FPI members to fight corruptors in the country instead.
