JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Jakarta Corruption Crime Court has on Tuesday, September 3rd, sentenced 10 years prison for Djoko Susilo, inspector general police, for crimes committed in the procurement of driving simulator for the national police.
The sentence is significantly lighter than prosecutor’s demand of 18 years prison. The Court only ordered Djoko to pay Rp500 million in fines even though he is proven guilty of enriching himself with Rp32 billion from the driving simulator project which caused State losses of Rp121.83 billion.
Djoko was also unable to prove source of his Rp54.6 billion and US$60,000 wealth collected in the period of 2003-2010.
The assets gained with funds from corruption crime will be confiscated by the State, but the Court declined to order Djoko paying Rp32 billion in compensation to the State.
Djoko was relieved with the lighter sentence, but his lawyer indicates a possible appeal to High Court. State prosecutors, including KPK leaders, expressed their disappointment over the verdict, but yet to make decision about further legal actions.
