JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – MEO Australia Ltd considered Kuala Langsa in offshore North Sumatra a substantial gas discovery, but contained high content of carbon dioxide of up to 75%.
Kuala Langsa is located in the Seruway production sharing contract (PSC), where Juaro prospect is also located.
MEO estimates that Kuala Langsa contains up to 5.4 TCF of raw gas resources, but based on its most recent PVT analysis, CO2 content is estimated in the 65-75% range.
Approximately 30% of the Kuala Langsa field, including the crest, is mapped to extend into Seruway PSC.
“There are a number of additional prospects along trend from Juaro on the Ibu Alpha horst, which have not yet been fully characterized,” MEO said in a presentation material.
