JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Dahlan Iskan, minister of state-owned enterprises (SoE), demands stata cement maker PT Semen Indonesia Tbk (SMGR) to acquire the loss-making PT Semen Kupang, operated in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province.

Semen Kupang stopped its operation in March 2018 after having financial problem since year 2,000. However it resumed operation in 2011 after getting capital injection of Rp300 billion and partnership support from PT Sarana Agra Gemilang (SAG).

Under cooperation with SAG, only one production facility (Kupang II) resumed operation, while Kupang I facility is not so far operated.

Dahlan said Semen Indonesia has capacity to revitalize Semen Kupang’s cement mills by injecting more funds or fresh capital.

Currently Semen Kupang is owned by central government (61.48%), Bank Mandiri (35.39%), and NTT government (1.12%). (yohanneso@yosefardi.biz)
