JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Telecommunication operators are now competing on the 4G-LTE (Long-Term Evolution) wireless services. Commonly marketed as 4G LTE, this is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals.

The government of Indonesia has in April 2015 allowed telco operators to launch 4G-LTE at 1800 MHz, instead of 900 MHz implemented earlier. XL Axiata launched its first 4G-LTE service in Lombok, East Nusa Tenggara province, then planning to enter Java area including Jakarta in September this year.

PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) is also ready to launch this wireless service as it has modernized its network since 2 years ago. While Telkomsel, subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) launched its 4G-LTE services early this month in Makassar, Southeast Sulawesi.

The 4G-LTE service network is believed to attract more data users, compared to 3G-LTV, as currently the mobile phones have been equipped with 4G technology.
