JAMBI (Yosefardi) – Three companies plans to invest Rp703 billion in rubber and crude palm oil business in Jambi, Sumatra, Tribunnews.com reported.

PT Metra Cakrawala will build crumb rubber at cost of Rp65 billion in Merangin district. PT Fortius Wajo will build CPO mill in Tanjung Jabung Barat with investment cost of Rp140 billion. While PT Citra Harun Sawit will invest Rp498.5 billion in Bungo district.

These 3 companies, new players in plantation business, are now proposing to get licenses from Jambi administration.

During first half of this year, investment by local investors in Jambi reached Rp21.1 trillion while foreign investment totaled US$829,801. The biggest investment is made by Sinarmas Group.

For pulp and paper industry, the major players are Lontar Papyrus and PT IIS (Asian Agri Group).
