JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Indonesia’s Consulate General (KJRI) in Malaysia confirmed on Wednesday (Jan. 27) evening that the local authority has found the bodies of 22 Indonesians died in a boat sinking off the coast of western Malaysia, the state news agency Antara reported.
According to Taufiqur Rizal, the head of the KJRI in Malaysia, the bodies were founded in Kelise waters, Johor, Malaysia.
Rizal added that the 22 Indonesian died in the incident are comprises of 12 males and 10 females.
He said that his side still continues monitoring the evacuation process conducted by the local authority as well as the process of returning the bodies of the death victims to their families in Indonesia.
It’s not the first incident whereas tens of Indonesians died in a boat sinking off the coast of Malaysia. For example, back in September 2015, 64 Indonesians also died in in a boat sinking off the coast of Western Malaysia.
Many then strongly suggested the government to improve their cooperation with Malaysian authority to avoid similar incident to happen in the future. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
