JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The opposition group at the House of Representatives (DPR) known as the Red-and-White coalition (KMP) claimed to have collected support from 157 lawmakers to push the DPR to exercise its interpellation rights over the government decision’s on fuel subsidy cut.
Golkar politician M Misbakhun revealed on Tuesday noon (Nov. 25) that 157 lawmakers signing the motion are 53 lawmakers from Golkar, 50 from Gerindra, 31 from PKS, and 23 from PAN.
Democratic Party, another member of KMP, meanwhile, have not yet signed the motion. According to Agus Hermanto of Democratic Party, they are still waiting an order from the party’s leader i.e. former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
As we all know, the opposition group is currently a majority force at the DPR that controls 313 out of 560 DPR seats or 55.9%.
The Great Indonesia ruling coalition (KIH) comprises of five political parties (PDI-P, PKB, Nasdem, Hanura, and PPP) only control 247 seats (44.1%). KIH is in unity to reject the opposition’s motion. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
